Suggest we stop providing food at meetings.

Meetings that run over breakfast or lunch can be brown bag. Folks can get coffee/tea/water from the break room, but if all other food services cease there should be some savings. Even breakfast tacos add up over a year.

Thank you for the suggestion. Food and drink at occasional meetings, however restrained, has been scrutinized and managed carefully. Yet we can anticipate further cutbacks in this area over the coming budget cycle. We do appreciate the support of all of you in moving our holiday event on-site in the interest of economies. I do hope we do not have to move to VP Coffee-less in the coming biennium.

I might be in support if I saw how money saved would be used to support staff, and if I saw some numbers on how much money were to be saved. Frankly, if it works out to be something like 20.00 per staff member a year and the money ends up going towards a one-time yearly special event which not everyone participates in, I'm o.k with the refreshments. (Though I do think food could be scaled back a little. Provost Coffees are a little lavish lately.)

Breakfast tacos do not show up at any meetings I attend. But hospitality at the VP coffee is gracious and very welcomed. Attendance would lag without the goodies.

I don't know if I would attend meetings if there wasn't food. Unless I was forced to. Another viable cost saving suggestion might be to eliminate meetings altogether?

The only meeting I attend that has food is the VP coffee and that is much appreciated.
