More aggressively cross train staff who will be stepping in when imminent retirements take place.

This may be taking place in other units, but in mine I see no planned attempt to make sure those leaving in January have passed on as much as possible of their routines and knowledge. Any of this which happens seems to be ad hoc and dependent on the individuals involved taking the initiative and making the time in their days.

yes, every unit should be directed by the admnistration to plan for a further ten percent reduction in its total operating costs. that would be a good strategic instruction to everyone.

this is a good idea. it is happening in my area, so maybe your supervisors will do this too soon. I have confidence in my AD to get this hard job done. I expect things to get harder before things ease up.
